Texture Basket Exploration

A basket of different fabrics — silky, bumpy, fuzzy — for tiny hands to discover.

Steps

1. Gather fabric scraps with different textures: silk, corduroy, faux fur, burlap, terry cloth.
2. Cut each into a safe, hand-sized square with no loose threads.
3. Pile them in a basket or shallow bin within easy reach.
4. Sit with your baby and name each texture as they touch it — “soft,” “bumpy,” “fuzzy.”

Notes

Rotate in new fabrics every week or two to keep it interesting.
