Sponge Painting

Cut-up sponges dipped in paint and stamped on paper — an easy first painting technique.

Steps

1. Cut sponges into simple shapes like circles, squares, or stars.
2. Pour a few colors of paint into shallow dishes.
3. Show your toddler how to dip a sponge in paint and press it onto paper.
4. Let them experiment with stacking colors and shapes across the page.

Notes

Clip a clothespin to each sponge to keep little hands cleaner while they stamp.
