First Pancake Flip

What you’ll need
Preschoolers are ready for more responsibility in the kitchen than we usually give them credit for. This is a great first real cooking task — they measure, pour, and get a supervised turn at the flip.
Steps
- Set up a step stool so your preschooler can see into the bowl and pan comfortably.
- Let them measure and pour the mix and water, then stir.
- Pour batter onto the griddle together — a kid-sized ladle helps here.
- When bubbles form on top, guide their hand on the spatula for the flip. This is the moment they’ll want to do again and again.
Notes
Start with a smaller pancake for their first flip — more forgiving, less frustrating if it doesn’t land clean.
