Butter Making (Shake Cream in a Jar)
Heavy cream shaken in a jar turns into real butter โ science you can spread on toast.
Steps
- Pour heavy whipping cream into a jar with a tight lid, filling it no more than halfway.
- Seal the lid tightly and let your preschooler shake it vigorously.
- Keep shaking, taking turns helps, until the cream separates into a lump of butter and liquid buttermilk.
- Drain the buttermilk, rinse the butter under cold water, and spread it on crackers or toast to taste.
Notes
This takes 10-15 minutes of steady shaking โ pass the jar around if little arms get tired.
